If you've been into affiliate or network marketing longer than a month, you know that the only way to tap into that residual, walk away income is to build a sizable, active downline. Of course, that's why you're reading this blog post. This is the main reason why over 90% of marketers fail in their first year, they lack the knowledge and skill in attracting the right people to their opportunity; and the skill in being an inspirational leader to their growing organization.
To attract people into your downline, you must be an ethical person. Even though underhanded practices may bring quick riches, they are always found out in the end. And once your reputation is ruined online, building a huge downline is next to impossible. You must be able to show the people that sign up to your opportunity that you are out to help them, not just yourself.
Also, building a strong downline will take some organization. When you promote your opportunity to your market, you will be encountering a large number of people you will need to sift through in order to find the ones who are serious about working your opportunity. You will need to know which person has what strengths and you have spoken to on what date. You will also need to know which people will require more training than others. Having a system that will help you to keep track of each person's contact details, and your last conversation with each can put you one step closer to building your grand downline; the people that sign up with you feel more important because you "remember" their exact situation.
When you have people signing up in your downline, they will look to you for support. As a sponsor you must learn the difference between assisting your downline and doing the work for them. There comes a time for even the most fledgling newbie to spread their wings and launch their own marketing campaign solo. If you make the habit of giving the same lessons in marketing over and over and "help" them by promoting their links for them, they will never learn to be active on their own and start their personal journeys to residual income. If you want your downline to continue to grow, self-reliance is a definite lesson to be taught.
Finally, to build your massive downline; it is crucial that you commit to consistent, daily action in your marketing efforts.
Every day, find more sources where you can advertise your link and market more; network with contacts that are in similar industries. The more people you reach out and contact, the better chance you will have of finding someone who is interested in what you have to offer. All it takes is effort, time, and patience.
